The Value of the Pull-off TestWhilst the pull-off test, if used alone, may lead to poor electrical joints, it is valid as a regular production check which will highlight any deviation from the required standard, such as use of the wrong terminal or wire, or any strands damaged during the stripping process. Capability Studies
The leading connector suppliers now use capability studies as a Quality Assurance measure. These studies prove the statistical capability of tooling and should be performed for each combination of tooling/terminal/wire size. In some instances capability studies offer no advantage, for example when testing wrap around crimps, and a combination of microsectioning, pull-off and crimp height tests should be used to ensure an accurate setting.
